Annual HRI Work-In

HRI’s annual Work-Ins are opportunities for faculty, staff, students and community members to come together around issues of interest and concern in the civic arena.

Since 2016 we’ve hosted two community organization-focused events in Levis, sponsored ally training for undocumented students, and supported a workshop aimed at addressing trauma and resiliency in the African American community through HRI’s C-HeARTS Research Cluster.

2021 Work-In: Odyssey Projects in the Midwest

In 2021, we celebrated Odyssey Projects in the Midwest. We watched brief presentations about Odyssey Project adult education programs throughout the Midwest from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Wisconsin Madison, and Illinois Humanities (based in Chicago). Community members engaged in a Q & A session with presenters around adult education and future university-community collaborations.

2020 Work-In: The Land Acknowledgment

In 2020, as part of broader efforts to learn how to support the work of Indigenous scholars and communities, we partnered with Professor Jenny Davis, director of American Indian Studies at UIUC, to offer a workshop on what you can do beyond reading the land acknowledgement or professing your support for Indigenous rights.
