Kab's Relfection

Kab's Reflection

The poem that I wrote reflects on the classes taken here at Odyssey. Philosophy, Art History, Critical Thinking & Writing, Literature, and U.S. History all have key roles in Humanity. The phrase "Think Again" is really what Odyssey is about. As you maneuver your way through each class, it will have you thinking again about each topic. When you first hear it, you may think it does not apply to you. Longer down the road, you realize each class has some effect on each one of us. I thought: Why does this matter? How does it relate to me? As I thought more about it and did more research, I started to find something in every course that applied to me whether it be cultural, political, or even just day-to-day living. Odyssey gave me a broader view of the way the world is around me.

Kab's Work

I came into Odyssey looking to have fun with learning
They said "Humanity" so I knew I'd be learning about the human race
When they mentioned the courses you should have seen the look on my face
Who would've thought philosophy was thinking about thinking
I don't have time to think some more
Then Art History comes along and you want me to look at pictures from Picasso and from the war
Fast Forward to critical thinking (more thinking)
At this point, I feel I'm becoming a thought
"They said" We'll explore literature and I'm like "cool I love poetry"
Come to class and we're reading about how a frog laid eyes on trees
Let's not get into U.S.History
Aw man, do I have to keep hearing about slavery?
So these were all my thoughts at first
but I learned that Philosophy was literally in everything
The pictures from Art History had so much meaning
Critical thinking allows me to think and think again
Creative writing allows me to reflect on what I have learned
Literature helped me to understand that there is more to poetry than just rhyme
U.S. History taught me we can never learn everything but what's going on now reflects past times
